I had the opportunity to photograph Josh & Becca’s beautiful wedding a couple years ago, so I was so excited (and honored) when they ask me to photograph their family photos this summer. They have an adorable 6 month old who has the bluest eyes, the cutest smile, and cheeks that you want to squeeze.
In Utah, there is a short time where there are fields and fields of amazing wildflowers up in the mountains. Unfortunately they are only in bloom for a very short time. Maybe 3-4 weeks? So when Becca contacted me to photograph their family, I suggested doing the wildflower photos. The opportunity doesn’t happen too often, so it seemed like the perfect time. (And ironically I photographed their bridal / formal session at the same location. However, since the wildflowers weren’t out at that time, the photos look completely different).
The weather has been extremely hotter than normal this year, and we’ve had (what seems like) very little precipitation. Ironically the day we took these photos it started raining. I decided to just do them anyway in hopes that the rain would pass. I’m so glad we did because luckily enough it stopped raining long enough to do the session! Plus since it had been raining (and overcast), the weather was a lot cooler than the high 90’s that we’d been used to. It made the session much more bearable.
I seriously wish the wildflowers stayed in bloom the entire spring and summer seasons in Utah, because they are so ridiculously beautiful! But at least we get them for a few weeks each year.
Doesn’t this make you think of The Sound of Music!? (I may or may not have extended my arms and twirled around 😉 )
Which ones are your favorites!?
